Getting started
Five steps from visitor to first session. The setup guide has every step in detail, including streaming and recording; Questions has the short answers.
- Create an account (Google sign-in). Create account.
- Check trial eligibility. Your account shows whether you can claim the trial.
- Get the Windows app from Download, read the unsigned-build notice and verify its checksum.
- Sign in from the app. It opens this website in your browser; sign in there and return to the app.
- Choose your game and start the Broker. PAUSE holds the Broker without ending the session: he stops looking and speaking until you press RESUME. There is no in-session game switching: to change game, STOP, choose the other game in the app, then START.
Installation
Signal Broker is a Windows application for 64-bit PCs. Founder Alpha is distributed unsigned while code signing is arranged. Read the notice on the Download page.
- Put the app in a folder you control and start Signal Broker from there.
- Full system requirements are published with the installer.
- Keep the app open while you play; the Broker runs on your PC, not in the browser.
Sign-in & account
Your account is authenticated by Google Cloud Identity Platform. Signal Broker never stores your password.
- In the app: Sign in opens a Signal Broker page in your browser. Sign in there and keep the page open until it says Authorised. A single-use code returns to the app; your password and account proof do not.
- Email accounts must verify their address before the account is set up. Verify email.
- Forgot your password? Reset it. The reset email comes from the identity service.
- Google sign-in is available when your browser allows the pop-up.
Game capture
The Broker watches the game through a capture of your game window or screen. Nothing leaves your PC except what the session needs to think and speak.
- Start the game first, then choose it in the app. Pick the game window, not the launcher.
- Fullscreen and windowed games are supported.
- Some anti-cheat protected games refuse capture. The app tells you when a game cannot be watched.
Overlay
The Broker appears over your game — fullscreen or windowed — and the Broker Bar shows time left and session status.
- Move and resize him in Settings: drag the preview, use the size slider, or press Reset to restore the default.
- Broker Bar: toggle it with Ctrl + Shift + Alt + B, also over a fullscreen game.
- OBS: use the transparent Browser overlay and the guided OBS setup in the app.
Signal Time
Signal Time is metered from the Broker’s managed AI work — every look at your game and every spoken line — rather than simply the elapsed time of your gameplay session. Your account shows usage and remaining balance.
- Looks and lines. Each time he looks at your game and each time he speaks, the service meters the seconds that piece of work took, rounded up to the next whole second.
- Not the clock on the wall. A session that is open but in which nothing is being produced does not spend Signal Time. Quiet stretches are not charged just for being open.
- Held, settled or released. Each piece of work holds time while it runs; the service then settles what it took or, for work it confirms as failed, releases it back to your balance. Work whose outcome is still being confirmed stays held until the service can settle or release it.
- Paused is not spending. While a session is paused he neither looks nor speaks, and no Signal Time is spent; a look or a line already under way when you pressed PAUSE may still be counted.
- One balance. Your account, the app and the Broker Bar read the same balance. The app warns you at one minute and at fifteen seconds.
- When it ends, the session finishes cleanly: Your Signal Time has ended. Nothing already spoken is cut.
- Free trial and packs. The trial is claimed from your account if your account is eligible; additional time costs USD $4.99 per Signal Hour (3,600 seconds). See Pricing.
Billing
Founder Alpha is available to customers in the United States through Plan & Billing. Stripe handles payment details; Signal Broker does not store card numbers.
- Founder Alpha is $19.95 a month including 5 Signal Hours per paid billing period (included hours do not roll over); additional Signal Time is $4.99 per Signal Hour and does not expire.
- Plan & Billing in your account shows the real state of your subscription and payments.
- Refunds and cancellation. Read Signal Time, cancellation and refunds and review the versioned purchase terms shown at checkout.
Troubleshooting
In customer language. If a step does not help, contact support and say which one you tried.
Broker doesn't start
Check three things in the app:
- You are signed in (Account).
- You have Signal Time left (the figure on the Play screen).
- A game is chosen and running.
The Play screen shows a plain reason when he cannot start. Read it, fix that one thing, then press Start again.
Broker stopped commenting
Silence is often a decision: he holds during cutscenes, dialogue and menus, and when nothing is worth saying.
- Check the status in the app — LISTENING is normal; a problem card names the problem.
- Check your Signal Time. When it ends the session finishes and says so.
- Check your internet connection; he thinks and speaks through the Signal Broker service.
- If the game window was closed or minimised he loses the picture. Bring the game back and, if needed, start a new session.
Overlay not visible
- Some games in exclusive fullscreen hide overlays. Try borderless or windowed mode for that game.
- If you dragged him off-screen, open Settings and press Reset.
- The Broker Bar has its own toggle: Ctrl + Shift + Alt + B.
Game not detected
- Start the game before choosing it in the app.
- Choose the game window, not the launcher or store.
- Some anti-cheat protected games refuse capture; the app says so when it happens.
Changing game or taking a break
PAUSE holds the Broker without ending the session: he stops looking and speaking until you press RESUME. There is no in-session game switching: to change game, STOP, choose the other game in the app, then START. A paused or stopped session spends no Signal Time; starting again after STOP takes a few seconds.
VOICE RECOVERING on the Broker Bar
His voice is reconnecting while he keeps watching. It clears by itself when the next line is audible. If the voice cannot reconnect within its bounded recovery, the session ends and the app says so; press START BROKER to begin a new one.
Sign-in problem
- Keep the browser page open until it says Authorised, then return to the app.
- If the page says the sign-in request is invalid or expired, close it and start sign-in again from the app.
- Make sure your PC clock is set correctly — the service refuses requests from a clock that is far off.
- Forgot your password? Reset it here.
No Signal Time
With no Signal Time, the Broker will not start a session. Buying Signal Time is not available yet. If your balance looks wrong, contact support with the category Signal Time.
Audio problem
- The Broker speaks through your Windows default output device. Check that device and the Windows volume mixer.
- If you switched headsets or speakers mid-session, stop and start the session again.
- If he shows SPEAKING but you hear nothing, the sound is reaching the wrong device.
